Adapted Activity Sessions

Students in the Health & Sport Science Department's Adapted Physical Activity course (HSS 220) have the unique opportunity to work with children with exceptionalities from the Dayton community. This course provides students with valuable training and experience on how to "adapt" physical activity in order to meet the specific needs of children with multiple exceptionalities. Students in the course provide children with exceptionalities from multicultural backgrounds with quality adapted physical activity in the form of assessment, prescription, and fitness. This community-based program services approximately 55 children from the Dayton community and approximately 35 Health & Sport Science students at the University of Dayton every semester. It is a prime example of the university's mission to Learn, Lead, and Serve in the Marianist tradition!
