Profile

April Darnell has taught in the Intensive English Program at the University of Dayton since 2009 and has been with the program full-time since August 2010. Her career as a teacher of English as a second language began when she received an M.A. in TESOL from Southeast Missouri State University. Teaching is just the most recent of April’s careers, which include working as a newspaper reporter, advertising sales representative, and public relations representative. Similarly, Dayton is only the latest stop in a life filled with travel. After marrying her high school sweetheart, who joined the Air Force, she lived in five different states as well as Okinawa, Japan. In 2006, they arrived in Ohio for her husband’s final Air Force assignment. Following a 3-year stint teaching at Wright State University, April began at the University of Dayton. When she’s not teaching, you will likely find her either involved in ballroom dance or riding her American Quarter Horse.
