Renewable Katchman and Michaelis Scholarships

The Bernard J. Katchman Memorial Scholarship is awarded by the Department of Chemistry to an undergraduate chemistry, biochemistry, or medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry major. It is a renewable two-year award of $625 per year for the first two years of attendance. At the end of the second year, Katchman Scholars are automatically eligible for the Carl I. Michaelis Scholarship Award for their third and fourth years in the amount of $5,000 per year. This brings the total joint scholarship award to $11,250 over the four-year period for incoming students.

Requirements:

Each year, the recipient must maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or better and remain in an undergraduate Chemistry or Biochemistry degree program to continue to receive this joint scholarship award.

Accepted Students

The Bernard J. Katchman Memorial Scholarship is a renewable award for the first two years of attendance and at the end of the second year students are automatically eligible to receive the Carl I. Michaelis Scholarship Award.

Currently Enrolled Students

The Department of Chemistry invites currently enrolled majors to apply for these awards. The Katchman Scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate Chemistry or Biochemistry major annually and is renewable for the student's sophomore year. Qualified Katchman Scholarship Award winners automatically qualify for the Michaelis Scholarship during their junior and senior year.
