Where students from all over the world find common ground. Or a common porch.
With students hailing everywhere from Bangladesh and Brazil to Tunisia and Turkey, there is a wonderful international presence to be found on our campus. The porches of the student neighborhood have a worldly feel to them, as undergraduates from 40 countries call themselves Dayton Flyers.
And those students are treated to a welcoming environment that helps them get the most out of their time as U.S. university students. The University of Dayton has been named a leading university worldwide in learning, living and support services, according to the International Student Barometer, the largest survey of international student satisfaction in the world.
Intensive English Program
The Intensive English Program prepares students to continue in an academic program at either the University of Dayton or another university of their choice. Through a combination of individual attention, intense English language study and immersion in the American culture, students are equipped with the skills needed to be successful in an academic program on an American campus.
The University of Dayton Intensive English Program is an approved member of the American Association of Intensive English Programs.
Students have the option of applying:
- To only the Intensive English Program.
- For conditional admission to both the Intensive English Program and an academic program at the University of Dayton.

Graduate Admission Process for International Students
An international student seeking admission to any graduate program must have completed a minimum of 16 years of education, including the equivalent of a four-year bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution. Course work taken at technical or non-university affiliated institutions may not be considered for academic credit. The education ministry in the applicant's home country must officially recognize each school as a degree-granting institution.
Admission criteria vary by program. Please review the admission requirements for the academic program in which you are applying or direct your questions to individual departments.
Once your application is complete, the admission evaluation and review process takes approximately four to six weeks for most programs. However, the process may take longer in certain programs, such as physical therapy.
Due to the volume of applications we receive, repeated inquiries regarding your application status may cause delays. You can check your status at any time, without causing delay, by using our online status check. If it is necessary to contact our office regarding the status of your application, please allow one week for a response. Please use email@example.com for all e-mail correspondence.

I’m a senior student in Chemical Engineering. I will graduate soon, and I am proud that I chose UD because I would never get the same experience if I went to other school.
It was a hard decision for me to make to come to the University of Dayton, but, it’s one of the best decisions I have made.
As an engineering student, I was especially attracted to the extraordinary advanced technologies in the US.
I am Florian from Munich in Germany. I finished high school in Germany and now I am looking forward to study in the US.
At the University of Dayton, we encourage questions, and our international admission counselors will be happy to help you find answers.
